Important for Firefox: this way of loading the extension is temporary and disappears every time Firefox restarts - you will then need to redo steps 2-4. Chrome and others save the extension permanently. A permanent Firefox extension requires publishing on addons.mozilla.org (free, but goes through Mozilla review).
Does not work in Tor Browser: Tor Browser is built so every user looks identical, a tracking-free "fingerprint". Extra extensions break that, which is why the Tor Project itself explicitly advises against installing extensions for exactly this reason. An extension that reads your logged-in Facebook/Instagram data in Tor also does the opposite of what Tor is for: it ties your identity to your Tor session. Use Chrome, Firefox, or a Chromium-based multi-account browser (e.g. Ghost Browser) instead, they work without restriction.
